RESPONSE QUESTION- SECTION 3- pages 100-150

George talks about the school and community activities that helped keep him out of trouble. Describe some of them. Do you agree or disagree that activities and athletics can keep teenagers off the streets? Do you belong to any groups like this?

  1. George says he joined the Shakespeare club and Police Athletic league when he was in grade school. He also says how he played baseball in high school. I agree that activities and sports can help keep teenagers off the streets and really affect their efforts in the classroom. I do belong to a group like this I play in 2 baseball leagues outside of school and am trying out for the school’s baseball team this year.

  2. According to George, he said that he joined the Shakespear Club in elemtenary, and the Police athletic league during in elementary and junior high and he also played baseball in highschool.

I agree that activities and sports inside and outside the school could keep a teenager out of trouble. I do belong to a group like this, I play sports and do activities outside of school.

  4. In grade school, George joined the Shakespeare club and Police Athletic league. In high school, he played baseball. Yes, i agree that activities and athletics keep teenagers off the streets. It keeps them occupied during the day, instead of running around with their friends. At the moment i am not involved with anything like this, but in grade school i played softball, basketball, and i was involved in a drama class outside of school.

I agree that doing activities after school is a awesome way of keeping yourself out of trouble. Also it shows that you can be an positive role model to little children. I am it a group during the summer I play for this basketball league near my neighborhood. It's a league to help teenagers and young adults to stay out of trouble.

I agree with what he does because both are great ways to meet people who share a common interest with you and who most likely won't have a negative effect on you. Currently I am not in any program like this, but at my old school I was apart of a few clubs along with my friends.

I do agree that these activities outside of school kept him much occupied. George gets to learn new things without getting in fight outside of school.

  8. In grade school, George joined the Shakespeare club and Police Athletic league. In high school, he played baseball. I do agree because it gives teenagers something to keep them busy and keep their minds of things that could end them up into trouble. I think that activities are the best way because it keeps kids safe and helps them develop new skills. I do belong to some groups. I play basketball for a league out in NE Philadelphia. I'm also trying out for the school's baseball team

  9. I do agree that after school activities keep teens off the street. I think this because if they have something to do then they can stay out of trouble and not get in with the wrong crowd. The activities he took part in was baseball, PAL,and Shakespeare club.I do belong a church choir and I do drama at school

I do agree that activities and athletics can help keep teenagers out of the streets. I do belong to a group and George also played baseball in high school.

  11. George joined the Shakespeare Club and the Police Athletic League so he would focuse on something else other than trouble while in grade school . In high school he played basketball which was the sport he loved. I agree with after school activities because they benefit students positively than being on the streets. I wish after school programs stayed open all night because at night is when the craziest things tend to happen. Well soccer conditioning is a program I guess. It keeps me from being lazy, I guess thats trouble too because if I wasnt doing that I would just be sleep afterschool on mondays and thursdays honestly.

  12. In grade school George said that he joined the Shakespeare Club and the Police Athletic league. By being in these he is able to be involved with other students in clubs and leagues this keeps him out of trouble.He then said that he played on his high school baseball team. Yes i agree because sports teach kids how to respect eachother and show sportsmanship. I am on my highschool baseball team also hopefully a track team in the spring.

I agree that these places help kids stay out of trouble because it gives them somewhere to go and something to do.also am not a member in anything such as this but I have been and it did teach me a lot and did give me something to do and look forward to.

  16. The clubs that helped George stay out of trouble was the Shakespeare club and the police athletic league in high school. Those clubs were very good for him because he got to stay in a safe environment where the bad peer pressure wasn’t around him. Yes, I do agree that joining clubs like these does help kids stay out of trouble. But, no, I don’t belong to any.

Yes i agree it help keep peole out of trouble when they are preoccupied instead of them having nothing at all to do. I don't consider myself an actor but i did join the drama club last year and i might join this year tooso yea i guess i belong to a club

George stated he participated in the Shakespeare club.Also he was in the Police Athletic league when he was in grade school.In high school he mentioned he played basket and also played outside of school too. I agree that joining clubs inside school can keep kids off the streets. The reason why kids are on the streets is because they have nothing better to do. If they join a club it would make time fly and they wouldn't be on the streets. No, I'm not YET in any activities like this.

George stayed out of trouble by joining the Shakespeare club, police athletic .i agree that joining any kind of extra activity can keep you out of trouble making you busy so you cant get into trouble with people or by yourself. Including out of school sports like learning and instrument or playing sports with friends or volunteer work

I believe that join these sort of clubs keep teens off the street because the clubs keeps them occupied and not out in the streets doing stupid things. No I do not belong to any club.

Although im not a bad child, doing these activities keeps me out of trouble.

  24. George, as a young boy was involved with school activities which consisted of the Shakespeare club and the police athletic league, also in high school he played for the schools baseball team. Yes, i think that after school activities keep kids out of trouble, because it give them something to base themselves on, to give them a reason to not mess up since they are a part of something bigger than them selves.

Reading the story, George was into school activities like police athletic league, shakespeare club and the baseball team.And i do believe after school activities keep kids out of trouble because that keep them from the streets and trouble happening after school.I should try baseball im a good catcher. Some of the activities that kept George out of trouble were doing plays in school and he joined the baseball team when he got to high school and with those plays he did a lot of then in junior high and high school.And by staying after school to do those things he could be with his bad friends as much as he was before.

    1. Some of the activities that kept George away from trouble was the when he joined the Shakespeare drama club and the police athletic league. They all kept George on the right tract in life. Also its keep him busy from being involved in street violence and hanging out with his the influence him with the negativity. Most of all, he joined baseball witch was really good because boys really love sports and it become his hobby. To me this kind of applies to me, but not really because I’m more of person that stay to themselves!
